One platform for hosting operations
Ledgeron is a self-hosted billing and operations platform for hosting providers. Billing came first, and the areas below are implemented. Tax is in development. Staff permissions, the screens, provisioning and support are planned, and the status table says so.
Clients
ImplementedAccounts with contacts, several tax IDs with their check history, consent history and typed custom fields. A warning when a new client looks like an existing one, and anonymising that keeps the legal records.
Product catalog
ImplementedProduct versions the database protects, drafts, and archiving instead of deleting. Add-ons are products, option sets can be shared, any billing cycle works, and products can be translated.
Pricing and promotions
ImplementedPrice lists, prices converted from one currency with a buffer, and repricing of existing services with notice to clients. Promotions by code or automatic, with tiers and free trials.
Ordering and services
ImplementedEach order is placed once, stock is checked or counted, and unpaid orders are cancelled after a set number of days. Services are built with retries and a visible failed state, then suspended, upgraded, moved to another billing cycle or ended.
Billing documents and payments
ImplementedProformas, tax invoices that can't be changed once issued, numbering without gaps, credit notes as the only correction, and client credit balances. Stripe charges saved card tokens on the due date.
Automation and audit
ImplementedOne scheduled run every five minutes, with a Needs attention list for staff. An append-only audit log that holds no personal data, and a record of what decided each price, rate and tax.
Payments are implemented but have not yet run against live Stripe.
How it is built
Ledgeron runs on PHP 8.3 to 8.5 and supports MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL. Every change is tested on MySQL 8.4, MariaDB 11.8 and PostgreSQL 18, and older supported versions are tested nightly.
It is designed to be self-hosted. You run it on your own infrastructure, and your customer data, billing records and integrations stay with you. A production installer and upgrade lifecycle are planned, ahead of general availability.
Stripe is the first payment gateway. Provisioning modules for cPanel/WHM, Plesk, DirectAdmin and Virtualizor/Proxmox are being designed, and more modules will follow soon. The connection point they plug into is built. More payment gateways, domains and registrars follow after the first release.
How it is tested
- Over 5,300 automated tests, run on MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL for every change.
- Money is kept as whole minor units (cents), never floating point, and the money rules have property tests.
- Each rule is proved by breaking it on purpose and checking that a test fails.
- Every task gets an independent review before it merges.
- Concurrency is tested under load, with several clients' work running at once.
Product status
Updated November 2026
Ledgeron is under active development. Every area carries one of three labels:
- Implemented
- Merged into the main branch, with automated tests passing on MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL in CI. It does not mean finished or proven in production.
- In development
- Being built now.
- Planned
- Designed or scheduled, not built.
| Area | Status | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Clients | Implemented | Accounts with contacts, several tax IDs with their check history, consent history, typed custom fields, a duplicate warning, and anonymising that keeps the legal records. |
| Product catalog | Implemented | Product versions protected by the database, drafts, archiving instead of deleting, add-ons as products, shared option sets, any billing cycle and translations. |
| Pricing and exchange rates | Implemented | Price lists, prices converted from one currency with a buffer, and repricing of existing services with notice to clients. |
| Promotions | Implemented | By code or automatic, on the first payment or on renewals, with tiers and free trials. The lowest price of the previous 30 days is shown, as the EU rule requires. |
| Ordering | Implemented | Each order is placed once. Stock is checked with the provider where it can answer and counted otherwise. Order limits, and unpaid orders cancelled after a set number of days. |
| Services | Implemented | Building with retries and a visible failed state, suspension, endings, cancellations, upgrades and downgrades, and billing-cycle changes on the same service. |
| Billing documents | Implemented | Proformas, and tax invoices that can't be changed once issued: the database enforces it, with a tamper-evident chain that can be verified. Numbering without gaps, credit notes as the only correction, and client credit balances. |
| Automation | Implemented | One scheduled run every five minutes, with a Needs attention list for staff. |

Implemented
Not yet run against live Stripe |
Stripe. Saved cards are kept as tokens only and charged on the due date, after any client credit. Temporary declines are retried, late fees are a separate document, and refunds go through a credit note. |
| Audit and explanations | Implemented | An append-only audit log that holds no personal data, and a record of what decided each price, rate and tax. |
| Tax | In development | Rates and registrations the provider enters, several named taxes on one line, prices that include tax, re-quoting unpaid proformas, and a tax report. |
| REST API | Planned | Before the internal beta. |
| Staff accounts and permissions | Planned | Permissions granted per staff member rather than one admin switch, a fresh login before sensitive actions, and refusing when authority is unclear. |
| Admin and client screens | Planned | One modern interface for staff and clients, built around the jobs staff do most. No screen exists yet. |
| Client messaging | Planned | Invoice, reminder and notice emails from templates, with delivery recorded. |
| Migration from WHMCS | Planned | Imports a WHMCS 7.10 or 8.x install, reconciled to the cent. |
| Installer and upgrades | Planned | Production installer and upgrade lifecycle for self-hosted installs. |
| Provisioning modules | Planned | cPanel/WHM, Plesk, DirectAdmin and Virtualizor/Proxmox are being designed, with more modules to follow soon. The connection point they plug into is built. |
| More payment gateways, domains and registrars, support desk | Planned | After the first release. |
| Several billing companies in one install, EU VAT/OSS, e-invoicing | Planned | In the second release. |
Milestones are on the roadmap; progress is recorded in the development feed. No screen exists yet. Screenshots will appear here once screens exist, labelled as development previews. We do not publish mock-ups of features that do not exist.
Help shape Ledgeron before general availability.
We are building Ledgeron first for real hosting operations at GOZEN, then expanding into controlled early access. Hosting providers interested in evaluating the platform, giving structured feedback or following development can register interest now.
